Nach den Filmtipps begebe
ich mich jetzt auch ins Genre der Musiktipps. Ich habe heute ein
Album entdeckt, welches ich nicht in meiner Planung um es
vorzustellen. Ich habe mir einige "Vorlage-Themen" für
diese Beiträge auf meinem Blog gemacht. Doch dieses Album hat
irgendwas in mir ausgelöst, was mich überzeugt hat, noch heute
einen Eintrag darüber zu verfassen.
Die Künstlerin, die ich
heute, in der ersten Ausgabe vorstelle ist die britische Youtuberin
"dodie".
Sie heißt mit
bürgerlichem Namen Dorothy Miranda Clark.
Sie ist auch bekannt
unter ihrem erweiterten Pseudonym "dodie Clark". Sie ist 22
Jahre jung und lebt in Epping, Essex in England. Ihr Youtubekanal hat
über eine Millionen Abonnenten.
Das Album hat den Titel
"You" und ist nach "Intertwined" ihr zweites. Es
beinhaltet 6 Songs bzw. 5 Vocaltracks und ein Instrumental mit dem
Titel "Instrumental".

Die Lieder sind voll mit
Positivität und Überwindung haben aber alle auch einen bitter-süßen
Beigeschmack. "In The Middle" wurde nach dodie von der Idee
eines "Dreiers" zwischen ihren zwei Ex-Partnern und ihr
inspiriert. Das findet sich auch offen in Lyrics wieder. An dieser
Stelle mag angemerkt werden, dass dodie Bisexuell ist und offen
darüber auf Youtube spricht. Das führt zu einer weiteren
definierenden Note dieses Liedes. Der Song "6/10"
beschreibt das Gefühl fehl am Platz ja, gar überflüssig zu sein.
Gleichzeitig war es das erste Lied von dieser EP, welches ich hörte
und es faszinierte mich direkt. Ich kann nicht sagen, warum, nur,
dass es eine unglaublich schöne, umschmeichelnde Wirkung auf mich
hatte. "You" ist ein Lied mit parisischem Flair. Das Thema
ist das Schlussmachen und die Gedanken drumherum. dodie spricht
ebenfalls sehr offen über ihre mentale Gesundheit, über
Depressionen, Ängste und den Verlust des Persönlichkeitsgefühl.
All das verarbeitet sie in "Secret For The Mad". Sie
spricht unter anderem davon, was man machen kann damit es einem
besser geht. Der letzte Song auf dem Album heißt "Would You Be
So Kind" und besitzt inzwischen eine andere Bedeutung, als zu
dem Zeitpunkt, als sie ihn schrieb, da er heute mehr nach einem
Ausdruck des Wunsches klingt und das war nicht ihre Intention
gewesen.
Ich finde das Album
interessant und bietet Abwechslung im übervollen Pool von Pop-Songs,
die Konventionen folgen, weil sie Mainstream sein sollen. dodie fährt
ihre Schiene und begeistert damit die Fans. Ich
brauche ja wohl nicht anzumerken, dass ihr euch es zumindest mal
ausschnittsweise anhören solltet. Hierzu empfehle ich das Video

Dies wird

After the
"Movietips" I will explorer the realms of "Musictips".
And just today I discovered an album, that I didn't plan on
presenting, at all. I have some sort of spreadsheet for these
blog-thingys. But as I listened to the first track, some
indescribable feelings were broad up inside of me with led me to
writing this one now.
The Artist
I'm presenting today in the first episode is a young british Youtuber
called dodie. Her real name is Dorothy Miranda Clark and is also
known under her longer alias “dodie Clark”. She is only 22 years
young and lives in Epping, Essex in England. Her Youtube-Channel has
over a million subscribers and with the album/EP called “You” I
will today present her second EP on the record.
The EP
contains 6 tracks, 5 of them being sung by herself and you
instrumental Track called creatively “Instrumental”. The
Tracklist, as well as the links can be found in the German version up
top.
The songs
feel very positive and are full with the feelings of overcome while
being always slightly bitter-sweet. The first song “ In The Middle”
was inspired by the idea of a threesome with her two exes. The lyrics
are quite literally with that. She speaks openly about her
bisexuality and that gives this song an even more special note to it.
Feel like being the fifth wheel on the car? Feel like your the burden
for someone? Than is the song “6/10” the song, that will speak
from your soul. It was the first song that I heard from the EP and I
was mesmerized by the sound, the completeness of it. It sounded
whole, perfect, just indescribable. It produced a warm, just amazing
feeling in me, which I never felt before like that. The forth song
“You” has it's own little Parisian flair to it. It depicts the
feelings of breaking up and getting over it.
She is
really open minded when talking about mental health and illness, like
depression, (social) anxiety and depersonalization. All that is
converted into the song “Secret For The Mad”, where the title is
really fitting and simultaneously ironic. Amongst other things, she
talks about how to live with it and what can help to brighten up your
mental sky. The last song on the album is called “Would You Be So
Kind” and it changed its meaning over the course of some time,
'cause it now has a presence of a wish, which wasn't intended by her.
All in all
has this EP been a real hit and I am really pleased having found it
in the overflowing mass of mass-acceptable-pop-music which has to
follow conventions to please even more people. dodie has her own
style and preserves it throughout the EP. Please enjoy it thru the
